Love Lust and Laughter - Howie Gordon - 10/29/13
Tuesday Oct 29, 2013
Tuesday Oct 29, 2013
Howie Gordon, a.k.a. Richard Pacheco, returned for Part 2. He and Dr. Diana discussed more in “HINDSIGHT.” Did his films educate men to please women? What kind of closure did he get as a result of the WORLD PORNOGRAPHY CONFERENCE – where Betty Dodson and Nina Hartley played significant roles? Here is a part of his talk at this conference: “People were all uptight about sex, but there was no reason to be! We were like noble rogues in some divinely human struggle to make life in a body easier. It was important work! My generation tried to make lust respectable!” We discussed Howie’s life post-porn – including the documentary “After Porn Ends.” Howie and Nina have important messages here. At the end, we discussed a final chapter which looks at his 14-year-old first love, Sally. There was “forty-four years of foreplay.” Of this experience, Howie writes, “Life gave us a pass. We were the fourteen-year-old kids again. Only this time, we were not afraid of sexual pleasure. We had the benefit of knowledge and appreciation. There was no fear and there was no shame. There was consummation. There was completion.” What a way to end this program!

Love, Lust, And Laughter - Marc Gilmartin - 10/01/13
Wednesday Oct 02, 2013
Wednesday Oct 02, 2013
Marc Gilmartin spoke knowledgably about his specialization: working with adult men with sexual abuse histories, who may be erotically conflicted – often with problematic sexual behaviors. What does “out-of-control” sexual behavior look like? What can compulsive viewing of porn teach a man? How can he integrate this in a sexually healthy way with his partner? In the second half of the program, we discussed the clinical presentations of men versus women with sexual abuse histories. How are the genders typically different? Fortunately, Marc will return for Part 2 on October 15th! www.MarcGilmartin.com for more information.

Love, Lust, and Laughter - Stella Resnick - 08/06/13
Tuesday Aug 06, 2013
Tuesday Aug 06, 2013
Dr. Stella Resnick, a well known author – “The Pleasure Zone” and “The Heart of Desire” – and a Certified Sex Therapist, was the guest. She and Dr. Diana looked at The Evolution of Sex Therapy since Masters & Johnson – how the field has expanded beyond a focus on sexual dysfunction to an emphasis on sexual health, pleasure, and a respect for diversity. Virginia Johnson, the collaborator with Dr. William Masters, died July 26th. Inspired by her death, our program looked back and forward regarding Sex Therapy. Dr. Stella is articulate! Among her wise observations is that as sex therapists, we challenge our clients to evolve themselves through sexual pleasure! One goal of this program is to help us so that we are in a sexually smarter place, and Dr. Stella contributed to that effort . Please go to www.DrStellaResnick.com to learn more.

Love, Lust, and Laughter - Dr. Jules Black - 07/23/13
Tuesday Jul 23, 2013
Tuesday Jul 23, 2013
Jules Black, M.D., an internationally renowned OBGYN, is the author of “BODY TALK – An A-Z guide to women’s health” (published in Australia and not available in the U.S.). This is a book with thoughtful insight and provocative information. Dr. Jules and Dr. Diana discussed many things – focusing on the medical and gynecological aspects of sex therapy: dyspareunia (pain with intercourse), teaching masturbation, orgasms, sexuality and pregnancy, and HPV. Diana heard his wonderful lecture at the WORLD ASSOCIATION for SEXOLOGY in Japan in 1995. Many of the topics came from her notes at the conference. Dr. Jules Black explained the word “obstetrics” – from the Latin word meaning “to stand before.” This is how he sees his role, an observer, helping women to birth rather than delivering their babies for them. His object is to try to do things for women, not to women! Dr. Jules is a jewel…Tune in!
